Well, we finally got some winter here in Madrid. It was a long time coming, but now the snow is great! Great for snowmobiles, great for snow shoeing, and great for just looking at sitting next to a cozy fire. With temperatures well below zero last week and not reaching 32 this week, the pond is definitely thick for some ice skating. It’s really nice at night with the lights on!
Progress on Star Barn B&B has been slower than we’d like. But I guess that’s par for the course. We ALL want things WHEN we want them, and that’s usually RIGHT NOW!! We are pleased, though, that the first and second floors are all framed in and the fireplace project is more than ½ way finished. Tony, our contractor, says we should see the roof on by the end of this week. The plumber and electrician are on stand by to do their part, and the gas stoves for the bedrooms are officially on order. And once the wood on the ground gets put on as a roof, the well will be drilled. So, we’re gaining on it.....
Ginni’s been busy making contacts for Maine and Madrid made items for Star Barn Uniques. All ready on board is home made goat’s milk soaps, quilts of all sizes, sewing projects, hand made jewelry, and knitted baby ponchos. And Ginni’s students cannot wait for the yoga studio to be available for use. Everyone has been great about breaking down whatever space we’ve been able to find (an old factory, a school art room, a meeting room at the local historical society), cleaning it, and setting it all back up again when class is finished. Won’t it be great when we can just walk into the room, set the mats on the floor and begin our practice!
And David’s been busy tying up the loose ends with our permits. Thank goodness he’s got the business mind he does!
We’re still hoping for an early summer opening this year for the B&B. BUT REMEMBER...... Star Barn Guest house currently has two rooms available, and we’re anxious to take your reservation!
